Michael Landau

Biographical SketchMichael is currently working on his Master's in EE with Professor Scott Acton in the VIVA lab. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2008 as a Biomedical Engineer, and is pursuing his interest in BME as well as EE. In 2007, Michael was involved in a research project with Dr. Shiavi, Dr. Wilkes, and Dr. Soloman and worked as a lab assistant and psychoanalyst of biomedical data at Vanderbilt. Here he constructed model hypotheses for the acoustical properties of speech as indicators of depression and suicidal risk1. In order to conduct his research, Michael was inducted into the Institutional Review Board (IRB) where he completed the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in the Responsible Conduct of Research. Michael has also been involved in other projects implementing image analysis, including white blood cell phenotyping in a nanophysiometer by trapping leukocytes in a microfluidic device.
